Location: Shanghai, China
Coupang is actively seeking self motivated, highly creative and intellectually curious Software architects and/or development leaders (managers) who are passionate about coding to join our global team! You must be eager and able to learn new technologies, have an excellent work ethic, positive attitude, and are fun to work with. You will lead/participate in detailed technical design, development and implementation of large scale reliable systems that impact the way Coupang does business. Working within an Agile environment, you will actively lead/participate in story planning and daily scrum meetings, while providing input for architectural design decisions, and developing code to meet story acceptance criteria. You will have the opportunity to continuously develop technical knowledge and skills on multiple platforms, and educate team members on the capabilities and constraints of technologies. You will be an integral part in advancing the culture of technical excellence within Coupang, and creating experiences to delight millions of customers!

Responsibilities:
- Act as the architect/technical leader (manager) of an agile team throughout the software development life cycle
- Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders and designers to implement enhancements or new applications
- Lead the team to develop code and automated tests to meet story acceptance criteria
- Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
- Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality / time to market imperatives
- Share best practices and improve processes within and across agile teams, and mentor more junior developers
- Recruit and coach other members of the agile team

Requirements:
- 8+ years software development experience with at least 5 years proven track record acting as the architect/leader/manager of mission critical enterprise software/e-commerce solutions
- Extensive experience in Object Oriented Programming (Java [preferred] or C++)
- Experience with Spring Framework
- Experience with JPA or Hibernate
- Experience developing medium to large scale enterprise and MVC web applications
- Experience with agile practices such as Scrum, XP, TDD
- Excellent communication skills
- Must have strong problem solving skills
- Must be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment with frequent and on-time releases
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering major. We prefer, but do not require, minors in Math, Applied Math or Statistics.
- This position is based in Shanghai, China. Will work with colleagues in Seoul Korea and Silicon Valley in the US.  Overseas travel is required.

- Background in eCommerce and Big Data
- Familiar with distributed computing, high performance computing and fault tolerant system design including clustering, load balancing, transactions and concurrency
