3rd Annual Mathlympics For All Singapore Primary Schools 2010
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) is once again collaborating with HotHouse Educational Services Pte Ltd and Casio (Singapore) Pte Ltd to organize the Annual Mathlympics for all Singapore Primary Schools. This competition is open to Primary 5 students and the main objective is to expose participants to intellectually challenging questions in order to stimulate their interest and ignite their passion in Mathematics.
What makes the Annual Mathlympics different from the various competitions organized by other institutions is the introduction of the use of the calculators. Questions for the competition are carefully crafted and set so that the use of calculators would benefit the problem solving process. With calculators allowed during the Final Round, we saw a significant improvement in the results obtained by the participants; an indication that the resourceful use of calculators has greatly enhanced the development of the students’ problem solving skills.
1908 students from 80 schools took part in the 2nd Annual Mathlympics For All Singapore Primary Schools in 2009. This is an increase from 1643 participants in 2008. We would like to thank all the participating schools for their support in this keenly contested competition. The Competition Booklet has been sent to all primary schools for their reference. This booklet contains all the questions from the Preliminary and Final Rounds in 2009.
As this competition also serves to distinguish and recognise high calibre students in Mathematics, participants who had done well in this competition will be given due consideration by Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) under the 2011 Direct School Admission Exercise. 这话分量到底多重呢? |
