Today marked an important date for many students who took O levels in 2011. Reminiscence of what the situation is like for me 2 years back... It really got me nervous, I was so afraid to get my results and hoping that the world will just end at that time. For the better students, who are so confident(guess my boyf is one of them) were hoping to get results asap. Is that the same for you today? ^^ Off-tracked.
Anyway, so the topic for today is "are you on the right path?" I'm standing in my position and share some of my own experience with you. There are 2 paths from O level, Junior College or Poly? So here are the top 5 JCs: RJ/HCI/NJ/VJ/TJ and followed by ACJC/SAJC/AJ/MJ/NYJC/CJ/JJC/TPJC/PJ/SRJC/YJ/IJ/MI. If you score excellently well and you are rich, it's obvious that you can go to RJ/HCI. The students there are genius and the teachers are good as well. But the stress that you will be facing in the top 5 JCs will be really great. If you love mugging it's not NJ that mug the most, it's actually AJ, there are 50% of the students needed to take re-test after their promos in year one(meaning: promos are badly done), and those who failed will get retain or kick out. Thus, AJ has the highest retain rates among all JCs. ACJC has it's mission "play hard" and "study hard". It's orientation is the most fun orientation and there are hot and rich guys all around. SAJC is best for their pretty uniforms ^^ JC will give you the fastest way to enter a University, but it's not an easy path. You got to deal with General Papers and what's more annoying-"Project Work" as well as CCAs! I was from one of the 5 top JC, and I'm really bad in my studies, I've got to give up a lot of things-sleep/shopping time etc. But the journey was memorable. HOWEVER, if you have an ambition, you want to do things like Veterinarian or want to go in to work earlier, Poly will definitely be a better choice. Many people has the misconception that students in Poly cannot get into Universities. In the recent years, statistics has shown that more students from Poly had actually secure a place in Uni in their year 3. Even if you have studied 3 years Poly and go in to Uni, it's not late, You will be "jump" to the second half of the year of year 1 in Uni after your graduation from Poly. What's more important, you're actually better than those who came from JC in the sense that you have more experience and knowledge about the particular course.
This choice is really important, I have read articles about students from top JC who did not do well in A levels and ended up nowhere. It's a struggle. I hope I will not end up like that! *Cross-fingers* Hope you have made the right decision and followed a correct path that will give you a bright future! ^^
