1. If the child is born overseas and both parents are Singapore citizens, must the birth be registered in Singapore?
There is no need for the parents to return to Singapore to register the birth. The parents should register the child's birth and obtain the birth certificate from the country where the child is born.
2. How does one apply for the child's Singapore citizenship if he/she is born overseas?
The parents can apply for the child's Singapore Citizenship through the Singapore High Commission/Embassy at the country where the child is born or
get a local sponsor to submit an application on their behalf to the Registry of Citizens, Citizen Services Centre, 6th Storey, ICA Building. Alternatively,
they may submit the application through our website via eSC
