Please be advised that a person does not have the legal rights to renounce or cancel the PR status of another individual. That individual may renounce his/her PR status on his/her own free will.
For your information, a divorce will normally not affect the residential status of a dependent permanent resident who was under the sponsorship of his/her spouse. However, the subsequent application for a Re-Entry Permit will be assessed on his/her own merits. The merits may include his/her ability to support himself/herself, such as documentary evidence o! f income and stable employment.
Should a divorce take place, the dependent permanent resident may produce supporting documents, such as divorce certificate, custody certificate of his/her child(ren) who is a Singapore citizen or PR (if any). If the dependent permanent resident is gainfully employed, his/her recent Letter of Employment, a statement of his/her CPF Contribution History for the last 12 months, his/her Income Tax Notices of Assessment for the last 3 years and his/her highest qualification certificate etc. are required for our assessment.
Also, the dependent permanent resident may enclose a letter of explanation that include any information which he/she deem relevant in supporting his/her application (e.g. relate his/her needs to the application) and enclose any other additional supporting document(s) that he/she think ! might be beneficial to substantiate his/her case. The dependent permanent resident may be required to provide additional information and documents whenever necessary.
As long as a Singapore permanent resident does not lose his/her residential status by leaving Singapore or remaining abroad without a valid Re-Entry Permit, he/she is allowed to reside and work in Singapore, regardless of the type of Singapore permanent residence scheme he/she has acquired.
Thank you.
