觉得用 was, 因为是指 "The ways in which students hurt themselves in school" 这个话题。

名校试题, 答案是 was, 但俺不肿么理解。英文外面卖的试题, 很多时候答案是错的。

在网上找了很多, 也没有找到明确说法, 说 ways 是一个 singular noun。ways 可以是 means 吗?

答案是”was“，“The ways in which students hurt themselves in school”是主语，整体放在一起看作为单数，因为后面是” the topic"，而不是"the topics", 所以"the topic" 就间接的给出了答案。 “was” 是be 动词的过去式，作为谓语，而“the topic of the teacher's meeting yesterday“是宾语。
