River of Revelation

“22 Do not merely listen to the WORD, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."(James 1:22)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Have you ever been in the position in the past where every time you opened the Bible you received a river of revelation? Does it seem lately that the river's run dry? If so, I strongly suggest that you backtrack to the last revelation GOD gave you. Back up and see if you acted on it, if you did what GOD showed you to do. If you didn't, start again, digging into that revelation and then putting it into action in your life. You'll soon find new revelations are beginning to flow.

You see, revelation is most prolific when you are acting on the WORD. I've discovered that for myself again and again. The more I act on the WORD, the more I see into it. That's why James 1:22 tells us to not only hears GOD's Word but to DO IT!

It may seem that the things GOD has revealed to you are very insignificant. They may not even make good sense to your natural mind. But do them anyway! If you had insight into the spirit realm, you'd see they're far more important than you think.

Open GOD's WORD anew today. Come before HIM expecting a fresh revelation of the Scripture and commit to HIM to follow it up with obedience. Be a doer of GOD's revelations and not a hearer only and your river will never run dry.

Scripture Study: James 1:

22 Do not merely listen to the WORD, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

26 Those that consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that GOD our FATHER accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Don't Just Sit  There...Arise!
"Now four men who were lepers were at  the entrance of the city's gate; and they said to one another, Why do we sit  here until we die.... So they arose."
(2 Kings  7:3,5)
Dear Brothers and  Sisters,
No matter how bad the problem is you  may be facing today, no matter how far under the circumstances you may be, in 24  hours you can be back on top!
You may say, "Oh, Brother Victor that  would be impossible!"
That's what the Samaritans thought in  2 Kings 7. Their land was being ravaged by famine. Enemy troops had surrounded  them and cut off all source of supply. Mothers were eating their own children  just to survive.
But right in the middle of that, the  LORD told the prophet Elisha that in 24 hours the whole situation would change.  Flour and barley would sell for just a few pennies and there would be abundance  for all.
What did GOD use to turn that  situation around?
Four lepers! Four lepers who, instead  of sitting around feeling sorry for themselves and waiting to die, decided to  arise and take their chances in the enemy camp. When they got there, they found  it abandoned. All the warriors had been frightened away by the angels of God,  and they'd left enough food behind to feed all of Samaria!
Sometimes you and I are like the  officials in that story. We get problem-centred instead of WORD of GOD centred.  We let ourselves be so surrounded with the loud voice of the world that the  vision of our victory is pushed out of sight.
When that happens, faith and power  begin to subside and life caves in on us from every side.
If that's happened to you, stop  crying about it. Stop looking at your problem and feeling sorry for yourself.  That won't change anything!
Just like HE did for Elisha, GOD's  given you a WORD. HE's promised you victory. HE's promised to make you an  overcomer.
So don't just sit there till you die.  Don't accept defeat. Rise up in faith. Stand up on GOD's Word and fight for your  life. Get mad at Satan. Cast him out. Get mad at that sickness. Get angry with  poverty and start giving.
Rise up and receive the deliverance  of the LORD!
Scripture Study:  2 Kings 6:24-33 ; 2 Kings  7:1-20
2 Kings  6:24-33
Famine in Besieged  Samaria
24 Sometime later, Ben-Hadad king of  Aram mobilized his entire army and marched up and laid siege to Samaria. 25  There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s  head sold for eighty shekels [about 920 grams] of silver, and a quarter of a cab  [about 100 grams] of seed pods for five shekels [about 58 grams of  silver].
26 As the king of Israel was passing  by on the wall, a woman cried to him, “Help me, my lord the  king!”
27 The king replied, “If the LORD  does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From  the winepress?” 28 Then he asked her, “What’s the  matter?”
She answered, “This woman said to me,  ‘Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we’ll eat my son.’ 29 So  we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, ‘Give up your son so  we may eat him,’ but she had hidden him.”
30 When the king heard the woman’s  words, he tore his robes. As he went along the wall, the people looked, and they  saw that, under his robes, he had sackcloth on his body. 31 He said, “May GOD  deal with me, be it ever so severely, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat  remains on his shoulders today!”
32 Now Elisha was sitting in his  house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a messenger ahead,  but before he arrived, Elisha said to the elders, “Don’t you see how this  murderer is sending someone to cut off my head? Look, when the messenger comes,  shut the door and hold it shut against him. Is not the sound of his master’s  footsteps behind him?” 33 While he was still talking to them, the messenger came  down to him.
The king said, “This disaster is from  the Lord. Why should I wait for the LORD any  longer?”
2 Kings  7:1-20
7 Elisha replied, “Hear the word of  the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah [about  5.5 kilograms] of the finest flour will sell for a shekel [about 12 grams of  silver] and two seahs [about 9 kilograms] of barley for a shekel [about 12  grams] at the gate of Samaria.”
2 The officer on whose arm the king  was leaning said to the man of GOD, “Look, even if the LORD should open the  floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?”
You will see it with your  own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of  it!”
The Siege  Lifted
3 Now there were four men with  leprosy[d] at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, “Why stay  here until we die? 4 If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’—the famine is there,  and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp  of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then  we die.”
5 At dusk they got up and went to the  camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, no one was there,  6 for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses  and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel  has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!” 7 So they got up and  fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys. They  left the camp as it was and ran for their lives.
8 The men who had leprosy reached the  edge of the camp, entered one of the tents and ate and drank. Then they took  silver, gold and clothes, and went off and hid them. They returned and entered  another tent and took some things from it and hid them  also.
9 Then they said to each other, “What  we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to  ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at  once and report this to the royal palace.”
10 So they went and called out to the  city gatekeepers and told them, “We went into the Aramean camp and no one was  there—not a sound of anyone—only tethered horses and donkeys, and the tents left  just as they were.” 11 The gatekeepers shouted the news, and it was reported  within the palace.
12 The king got up in the night and  said to his officers, “I will tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They  know we are starving; so they have left the camp to hide in the countryside,  thinking, ‘They will surely come out, and then we will take them alive and get  into the city.’”
13 One of his officers answered,  “Have some men take five of the horses that are left in the city. Their plight  will be like that of all the Israelites left here—yes, they will only be like  all these Israelites who are doomed. So let us send them to find out what  happened.”
14 So they selected two chariots with  their horses, and the king sent them after the Aramean army. He commanded the  drivers, “Go and find out what has happened.” 15 They followed them as far as  the Jordan, and they found the whole road strewn with the clothing and equipment  the Arameans had thrown away in their headlong flight. So the messengers  returned and reported to the king. 16 Then the people went out and plundered the  camp of the Arameans. So a seah of the finest flour sold for a shekel, and two  seahs of barley sold for a shekel, as the Lord had  said.
17 Now the king had put the officer  on whose arm he leaned in charge of the gate, and the people trampled him in the  gateway, and he died, just as the man of God had foretold when the king came  down to his house. 18 It happened as the man of God had said to the king: “About  this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two  seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of  Samaria.”
19 The officer had said to the man of  God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could  this happen?” The man of God had replied, “You will see it with your own eyes,  but you will not eat any of it!” 20 And that is exactly what happened to him,  for the people trampled him in the gateway, and he  died.

Don't Forget the Joy

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice." (Philippians 4:4)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Years ago, I decided I was going to walk by the WORD of GOD. I told GOD that, as far as I was concerned, HIS WORD was final and I'd confess it the rest of my life no matter what. That was the most important decision I've ever made.

Not too long after that, I decided that no matter what happened, whether I felt like it or not, I'd walk in love. Because the Bible clearly says "faith worketh by love." (Galatians 5:6 For in CHRIST JESUS neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.) It won't work any other way.

Those two decisions--to operate by faith in the WORD of GOD and to walk in love--are the two most important decisions I've ever made in my life.

Recently, though, GOD pointed out to me that there was something I'd been leaving out. The force of joy. HE told me I have no right to walk by faith and love and just leave joy dormant in my spirit. It's too important. As HE taught me about it, I soon came to realize that joy is an essential part of a life of victory. Without it, I might have an occasional triumph now and then, but I wouldn't be able to sustain them. They'd quickly slip away.

You see, joy is what gives you the strength (Neh. 8:10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our LORD. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”) to hold steady when the circumstances get rough. Joy gives you the ability to laugh in the devil's face when he starts trying to knock you off your faith. Joy gives you a kind of staying power that will make you a winner again and again.

So make a commitment to GOD that you're going to walk, not only in faith and in love but in joy as well. Make it a point to rejoice in the LORD always...and there won't be anything the devil can do or say to steal your victory from you!

Scripture Study: Psalm 84:

1 How lovely is YOUR dwelling place,
    LORD ALMIGHTY!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
    for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
    for the living GOD.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
LORD ALMIGHTY, my KING and my GOD.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in YOUR house;
    they are ever praising YOU.

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in YOU,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
    they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before GOD in Zion.

That Nagging Sense of Dissatisfaction

Isaiah 55: 1“Come, all you who are thirsty,
    come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
    come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
    without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labour on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Have you ever found yourself standing in front of the refrigerator, trying to find something to satisfy a vague sense of emptiness or discontent? You aren’t looking for anything specific, but you know you want to fill a longing. Whatever you choose will probably not do the trick, because the empty spot is not in your stomach but in your soul.

Whether the substance is food, career, possessions, or relationships, our souls are continually trying to find satisfaction. But nothing in this world will fill the void. Since we were created for relationship with GOD, HE placed deep within us a yearning for HIM. Though we may not recognize it as such, everyone knows the feeling of dissatisfaction that at time seeps into our souls. Whenever we attempt to find fulfilment with worldly substitutes, disappointment and disillusionment are sure to follow.

There are two possible menus from which we can choose to fill our empty souls. Satan’s menu is long and full of enticing things that seem to promise fulfilment and pleasure. These could include relationships, prominence, acceptance, riches, or recognition. Whatever he offers looks like the good life that will bring contentment, but it’s a deception. But GOD’s menu is quite small. In fact, it lists just one “item”—JESUS. HE is the only one who can fill the void.

What are you pursuing in life? Have you found the satisfaction you seek, or is there always a vague sense of discontent in your soul? If you’ll give JESUS a bigger place in your life and spend focused, unhurried time with HIM, HE will satisfy you as nothing else can.
