Free From the Curse

Galatians 3:13

13 CHRIST redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

You know the story. Satan came to Adam's wife in the form of a serpent and deceived her into disobeying GOD. Adam, although he was not deceived, but he followed suit (follow Eve’s disobedient to GOD’s command).

When Satan came into the Garden that day, he didn't have any power at all. He had to come in like a sneak, not even talking to Adam directly but talking to his wife, Eve

Now Adam was standing there, and he should have kicked Satan out right then. But he didn't. Instead, he set aside the command GOD had given him and did what Satan told Eve to do instead...and when he and Eve did what Satan told them to do, they made Satan their lord (Rom. 6:16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?).

In following what Satan told them to do, Adam gave Satan the authority that GOD had given man. He made Satan the illegitimate ruler of the earth. Immediately things changed. Through one man's trespass, death passed to all men (Rom. 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—).

The earth and everything in it was suddenly cursed.

"Okay," you say, "are we to live under this curse for the rest of our lives? Wasn't there anything GOD could do?"

HE could and HE did! HE sent JESUS. Through JESUS, HE set us free from the curse (Gal. 3:13).

The moment you choose to make JESUS CHRIST LORD of your life, you were delivered from the lordship of Satan. You were redeemed from the curse. I didn't say the curse wasn't out there anymore. It is! You can see it all around you. But now you have a choice. You have authority over it in the NAME of JESUS, so you can stand against it.

GOD's done everything that love can do. HE sent JESUS to redeem you from the curse. The rest is up to you. The choice is yours. Now you must appropriate what has already been done for you.

Scripture Study:

Romans 5:12-21
Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the ONE to come.

15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did GOD’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, JESUS CHRIST, overflow to the many! 16 Nor can the gift of GOD be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive GOD’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, JESUS CHRIST!

18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through JESUS CHRIST our LORD.

The CROSS

John 19:
17 Carrying HIS own cross, HE went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified HIM, and with HIM two others—one on each side and JESUS in the middle.

19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews. 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where JESUS was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”

22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In JESUS’ day, the cross was used by the Roman government to execute criminals. GOD transformed it into a symbol that unites Christians everywhere. It stands at the heart of what we believe and serves as a central focus of the gospel message.

When we consider the cross, we will think about . . .

JESUS and HIS perfect life. Our SAVIOUR left heaven to dwell on earth and become one of us. While here, HE obediently accomplished the work HIS FATHER had given HIM (John 5: 19 JESUS gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the SON can do nothing by himself; HE can do only what HE sees HIS FATHER doing, because whatever the FATHER does the SON also does.). Because of HIS perfect life, HE alone was qualified to be our substitute and bear GOD’s judgment for our sins.

Crucifixion. CHRIST went willingly to the cross in order to reconcile us to GOD. HE suffered a painful death on our behalf, and through HIS sacrifice, our sin debt has been paid. GOD’s justice was completely satisfied at Calvary. No further action is required.

Resurrection and Ascension. Three days after JESUS was buried, GOD raised HIM from the dead. The SAVIOUR’s sacrifice on the cross was accepted as payment for our sins, and the way to heaven was opened for all who trust and obey JESUS’ teachings. Our resurrected LORD, having appeared on earth to many people, ascended to live forever with HIS FATHER. JESUS conquered death and made it possible for us to dwell in heaven with HIM eternally.

Every day I invite people to place their faith and obedient in JESUS CHRIST’s commands. Because of the cross and what happened there, such an invitation has great value to the hearer. In fact, the events of Calvary continue to be relevant to Christians of all ages. Take time today to thank the LORD for the cross.

Which place should GOD take in my life

Exodus 20:2-3
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

What Place should GOD take in your life?

For some, money becomes most important. They worship money, which means that they devote most of their time, energy, and attention to its gain and use. They regard money as the key to power and prestige.

“Oh, says who I worship the idol of wealth?” You may say. But ask yourself these questions:

* How much time do I spend every day thinking about my financial life – my income, my bills, my past and upcoming purchases, my instalments, my investments? In comparison to, how much time do I spend meditating upon GOD’s WORD?

* How much time do I spend every week working, shopping, playing computer games, watching footballs, go drinking with friends, dating, watching movies or dealing with money (Be sure to include trips to ATM and the bank, discussion with your spouse about budgets or spending plans and balancing your checking account.) In comparison, how much time do I spend in prayer, reading Bible or participating in worship and praise related activities and reaching out to needy brothers and sisters? Or sharing the WORD of GOD to those who are lost?

* Am I more like likely to discuss with my family and friends a hot stock tip, or a new business opportunity, or the cost of an overseas holiday . . . or an insight I have into GOD’s WORD, the major truths of last week’s Scripture sharing or a way in which the HOLY SPIRIT has help me during the day? Which conversation is more likely to attract a greater amount of your energy, enthusiasm or concern?

You may say that you trust GOD in every area of your life – but do you ever conduct business transactions, make purchases and investments, and enter into money-making opportunities or changing jobs without first asking GOD’s opinion or seeking GOD’s wisdom? When you leave GOD out of financial life, you are in grave danger of making money your idol.

So how can you make sure you don’t fall into such a deadly trap? You could begin by focusing on Philippians 4:19, where GOD promises to supply all your need (Phil: 4: 19 And my GOD will meet all your needs according to the riches of HIS glory in CHRIST JESUS.). All of us have very specific needs: emotional, physical, material, mental and spiritual. GOD knows that our needs must be met (Matt. 6: 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.) if we are to carry out the complete life plan HE has ordained for us. By making intimacy with GOD your number one priority in life, you can be assured that GOD will meet all those needs. JESUS told us to “Seek you first the kingdom of GOD and HIS righteousness and all these things shall be added to you” (Matt. 6:33)

Silence the Critics

(1 Peter 2:15) "For so is the will of GOD, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men."

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I know from personal experience that when people start to criticize you and persecute you because you live an obedience life by faith, your natural human response is to want to strike back. It's easy to want to start dishing out a little criticism of your own. "Maybe if they get a taste of their own medicine, they'll shut their mouths," you think.

But you know what? They won't. Your words will just add fuel to their fire and they'll criticize you harder and louder than they did before.

According to the WORD of GOD, however, there is a way to silence them. Not by arguing with them. Not by defending yourself. But by keeping quiet and continuing to do the good works GOD has called you to do.

JESUS was highly criticized by the religious establishment of HIS day. But HE never fought back. Instead, Acts 10:38 says He simply went about doing good. (Acts 10:38 how GOD anointed JESUS of Nazareth with the HOLY SPIRIT and power, and how HE went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because GOD was with HIM.)

When people start riding you about living the faith life, be like JESUS and just keep on blessing people. Keep on praying for folks who are oppressed by the devil and get them delivered. Keep on laying hands on the sick and get them healed. Keep on doing what GOD has called you to do.

That will aggravate the devil because his primary purpose is to make you ineffective for the kingdom of GOD. He wants you to get wrapped up in the criticism. He wants to distract you, to get your mind off the job GOD has given you. He really wants you to quit.

Don't do it! Instead, follow the instructions in 2 Timothy 3:14 and "continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of." Silence the ignorant criticisms of men by continuing to do good and by continuing to live by faith. And when all their foolish words have faded away, you'll still be standing strong.

Why do you hold your tongue?
Why do you look on those who deal treacherously , and hold your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he ?Habakkuk 1:13
Dear Brothers and Sisters ,
We might prefer a world where GOD instantly judges every wrong , but that is not the world we have (nor would any of us long survive in it). Yet in HIS time , HE will certainly judge all evil and reward all good.

Why do YOU show me iniquity
Why do YOU show me iniquity and cause me to see trouble ? (Habakkuk 1:3)
Dear Brothers and Sisters , When we focus on the sin and trouble around us ,we quickly grow discouraged , anxious and confused. GOD does not want us to look away ,but to look toward HIM and then do what we can to address the evil.

we remember what we write

Habakkuk 2:2
Write the vision and make it plain on tables, that he may run who reads it.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

GOD told Jeremiah,” Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you”(Jer.30:2).

GOD also instructed Israel’s kings to copy HIS WORD(Deut.17:18). Why? It’s simple : we remember what we write.
