2017年A水准会考及格率：93％

（早报讯）去年A水准会考及格率与前年相比攀升了0.4个百分点，达93％，是新A水准课程自2006年推出以来的第二佳表现。

A水准成绩今天放榜，去年共有1万2502名考生参加会考，其中1万1624人考获至少三科主修（H2），以及理解与写作（General Paper）或知识探索（Knowledge Inquiry）及格，占考生总数的93％。

这是新A水准课程推出以来的第二佳及格率。2015年会考及格率是新课程推出后的历来最高，达93.1％，前年的及格率则是92.6％

这也是新课程A水准会考及格率连续第四年维持在90％以上，2014年之前的及格率多在90％或以下的水平。

新A水准课程让学生修读副修（H1)、主修（H2）和深广主修（H3）科目。

学生必须修读至少三个H2水平和一个H1水平的科目，其中一科必须是对比科目，即文科生须选读一门理科，理科生须选读一门文科。

学习能力强的学生，可修多一门H2课程和额外选修H3水平科目，作深度钻研。

REDEFINING EXCELLENCE: CLASS OF 2017 COMPLEMENT DIVERSE TALENTS WITH STELLAR A-LEVEL RESULTS

1 A total of 1172 students at Raffles Institution (RI) sat for the 2017 GCE ‘A’ Level Examinations. This number comprises students from the six-year Raffles Programme (RP), as well as students admitted at Year 5 (JC 1) via the Direct School Admission (DSA) and Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE).

2 The class of 2017 continues to embody the Rafflesian spirit of excellence, achieving a stellar set of results at the 2017 A-Level examinations.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF THE CLASS OF 2017

3    98% of students achieved 3 H2 passes, with a pass in General Paper or Knowledge & Inquiry.

4    57% of students offering four H2 subjects scored distinctions in all four subjects. 63% of students scored three H2 distinctions in their content-based subjects. Rafflesians continue to excel at the General Paper, with 50% of students scoring distinctions.

5    344 students achieved a perfect University Admissions Score (UAS) of 90. In addition, 204 students achieved distinctions in all subjects offered, including H3 subjects.

6    The class of 2017 achieved exceptional performances across the various subjects with 7 or more out of 10 students scoring Distinctions in Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Literature in English, Mathematics and Physics. 8 in 10 students scored Distinctions for History, and 9 in 10 students scored Distinctions for Knowledge and Inquiry.

7    Our students continue to excel with 545 students attaining at least 6 Distinctions, 300 students attaining at least 7 Distinctions, 74 students attaining at least 8 Distinctions, and 2 students attaining 9 Distinctions.

8    We congratulate Class of 2017 on their outstanding achievements, and would like to express our thanks to our teachers, staff, parents, alumni and the RI Board of Governors. Their dedication and unwavering support enables RI to continue its tradition of service to the nation.

9    We wish Class of 2017 all the best in their endeavours, and are confident that they will continue to contribute to our community.

Academic General

The Class of 2017 has achieved excellent results once again and we are very proud of them.

1. 6 out of 10 scored 3 H2 Distinctions and above.

2. Even with the revised GCE A-Level syllabus, 13 subjects have recorded an improved performance from last year. These include H2 China Studies in Chinese, H2 Economics, H2 Geography, H2 History, H2 Mathematics, and H2 Physics.

3. Besides their sterling academic results, the Class of 2017 has also excelled holistically.

300 students, more than a quarter of the cohort, have been conferred the Hwa Chong Diploma with Distinction
This cohort tirelessly and selflessly contributed back to the community, serving an average 112 hours in community service;
They have continued Hwa Chong's tradition of excellence with 52 World Championship Titles (2006-2018);
They also took home 55 Top 3 titles at the Interschool Sports Championships in 2017 and;
9 Certificates of Distinction for Performing Arts at the 2017 Singapore Youth Festival.

4. To date, 14 Hwa Chong students have been offered provisional Public Service Commission Scholarships. Three provisional Singapore Armed Forces Scholarships have also been offered to Hwa Chong students.

5. Even before the release of the GCE A-Level results, 14 students have been admitted to Peking, Fudan and Tsinghua University for bicultural excellence.

6. This year, a record number of 56 Hwa Chong students have received offers to Cambridge and Oxford University.

7. Close to 600 offers have also been made to Hwa Chong students from top US and UK universities such as Harvard University, Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, University of California Berkeley, University of Michigan, Imperial College London, London School of Economics, and University College London.

A水准化学部分试卷失窃 238学生受影响

去年参加A水准化学H2考试的学生当中，有238名学生的试卷（三）失窃，试卷在英国当地由速递公司送往评卷员途中遭窃取，至今仍未寻回。
受影响的学生来自安德逊初级学院（58人）、华侨中学（60人）、南洋初级学院（60人）以及英华初级学院（60人），占化学H2考生总数的3%。去年共有8843名学生参加化学H2（主修程度）考试。
试卷三（自由作答文章部分）的分数占整个化学考试总分的35%。
新加坡考试与评鉴局指出，在接获英国剑桥大学考试委员会（Cambridge Assessment）的通知后着手处理，确保受影响学生获得公平评估，不会因失窃事件处在劣势。当局指出，所有受影响学生在此次A水准化学考试所获等级比学校考试的好或相同。
考评局解释，化学考试共有四份试卷。该局与剑桥大学考试委员会考虑受影响学生在其余三份试卷的成绩（占65%），并参考同届学生的成绩来找出该学生的百分位排列（percentile ranking），以便推算出他在试卷三应得的分数，再凭总分来给学生一个等级。为确保评估准确公平，当局也考虑学生在学校化学考试的成绩，以确保成绩的统一性。依这个方式计算，受影响的238学生都获得比学校考试更好或相同的等级，全部都及格, 其中81%考获A和B。
新加坡考试与评鉴局总裁陈丽珠说：“针对这起令人遗憾的事件，英国剑桥大学考试委员会已通过考评局，想表达对受影响学生的最深歉意，并保证会检讨它的程序，避免事件再发生。”
根据现有程序，如果考生因有效原因无法参加某个试卷，只要试卷所占分数比率不超过该科目所有试卷总分的50%，考生不需要重考，当局会有一套程序来相应地给考生一个等级。
因此在这起事件中，学生无需重考。但基于情况特殊，当局决定让受影响学生有重考的选择。他们可选择在4月或11月分重考，原有所获的成绩等级或重考的成绩等级，哪一个比较理想，就会记录为A水准的成绩。
这是本地首次发生全国考试试卷失窃。失窃事件发生在去年11月16日，英国速递公司的司机在途中发现货车上八个包裹不见，其中一个包裹装有受影响考试的试卷。司机过后报警，剑桥大学考试委员会确认包裹被偷后在11月底通知新加坡考评局。
英国剑桥大学考试委员会在文告中指出，英国警方目前还在调查失窃事件，并对受影响的学生和家长表达歉意，它接下来将检讨加强程序。《联合早报》正尝试联系英国剑桥大学考试委员会，了解更多详情。
