BMW 530d wins Car Of The Year Award 
BMW Malaysia was bestowed the prestigious 'Car Of The Year' award in the New Straits Times-Mastercard Car Of The Year awards. The award under the auspices of the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) saw the 530d walk away with two awards, one in the 'Premium Executive' Category and the second as the overall winner, pipping a field of 67 other cars. 
This is the second accolade by the Malaysian press for the BMW 530d this year after winning an award in the Autocar ASEAN Car Of The Year Award in the 'Above-2-litre' category. 
Editor of Cars, Bikes & Trucks and the organiser of the awards, Yamin Vong felt that the BMW 530d won for a combination of reasons. "The first thing we felt was the 'wow' factor. The diesel engine's performance was incredible. This combined with the overall great package of the BMW 5 Series was what impressed the judges."
The award is significant as this is the first time a premium executive sedan has ever won the overall 'Car Of The Year'. The BMW 530d won the award by a unanimous vote from the five judges. 
According to one of the judges, Daniel Fernandez, "The BMW 530d gave total satisfaction everytime I drove it. We walked away thinking there was little we could fault, despite our very critical evaluations". "What you're getting at this price is unbeatable value for such a Premium car", added Fernandez, who is Editor of Asian Auto, Malaysia's oldest motoring magazine. 
BMW Malaysia launched the 530d in March this year making it the first ever BMW diesel to be officially sold in Malaysia. This is part of BMW Malaysia's diesel strategy and commitment to offering Malaysians a greater variety of choices. Since its launch, the BMW 530d has received rave reviews and critical acclaim from the Malaysian media and customer's alike.
The win represent another significant milestone for BMW Malaysia as BMW's leadership in producing exceptional cars is once again being reaffirmed by the industry.
