<P><B><U>Research-Based Programmes</U></B></P>

<P align=left>Masters and doctoral programmes by research are available in the Departments and Programmes of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. <P >The research degree provides in-depth training in a particular subject area through lectures, seminars and independent study culminating in the preparation of a research thesis. A supervisor or supervisors will be appointed for each candidate. <P >The Faculty awards, on a competitive basis, attractive bond-free <B>Research Scholarships</B> which provide full-time Masters and doctoral research candidates with a monthly stipend and a full tuition fee subsidy. Outstanding candidates may also compete for the prestigious NUS President’s Graduate Fellowships. The Faculty offers additional funding support for fieldwork and conference participation. </P>
