All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules. There is an option of either Academic or General Training Reading and Writing Modules. IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand academic institutions as well as many in Singapore. American academic institutions are increasingly accepting IELTS for admissions purposes. IELTS is also accepted by many professional organizations including the New Zealand Immigration Service, the Australian Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, the Australian Medical Council, the UK General Medical Council and the UK Ministry of Defence.

The new fashion will be to have several careers or ways of earning money and further education will be something that continues throughout life.

The rapid development of the I.T. age has brought about substantial changes in our modern daily lives. In this cyber epoch and globalized markets, multi-tasking has become a vital asset for workers. Therefore, a question arose – whether the job market and life-style are developing toward diversification or specialization?

It used to be specialization that dominate the mentality of workers. However, intriguingly, after the Asian economic crises of 1998 and 1999, lay-offs and redundancies were prevalent. An increasing number of workers, retrenched or retained realized that to survive in the workforce, versatility was top priority. This means that people who have skills in myriad fields and disciplines, especially being PC- and Net-savvy can tackle adverse situations and uphill battles well. Not only is it a significant boon to have diverse knowledge, it is essential and imperative.

The proliferation of technology and sophisticated software has triggered re-education for the working populace, be it an undergraduate or a middle-aged lawyer. E-mails, tele-commuting, tele-conferencing, cashless cyber transactions, and even blogging are vital, essential skills to be gleaned. In Singapore, to cite an example, the government has implemented various measures, including subsidizing courses in computer and cooking, to motivate re-education among the older workforce to ensure it keeps up with the times.

Career switch or multiple career increases the marketability and survival of a worker. Hence it can be safely assumed that future education will have toward a trend of multi-discipline and multi-tasking. It does not seem to be only a passing fad.

In conclusion, therefore, it is submitted that the prospects of a person will improve tremendously if he is multi-tasked.

(267 words)

Hello,there

IELTS is rather difficult examination to sit for. Unless you want to study overseas or working in there.
