[注意]2006年启用的新A水准课程（不影响2006年参加考试的同学）

凡是2006年进入Junior College或者Centralised Institute的学生将会开始依照新的a level课程学习：

1. 原来的AO Level（包括General Paper(GP), Mother Tongue——华文/Malay/Tamil）改为Level H1, 可以选择的科目有：
General Paper, Project Work
mother tongue, French, German, Japanese
Art, Econs, Geography, History, English Lit, History (Chinese), Chinese Lit, General studies in Chinese
Bio, Chem, Phyiscs, Maths

2. 原来的a level科目现在称为Level H2科目：
Knowledge & Inquiry
Art, Econs, Geog, History, English Lit, History (Chinese), Chinse Language & Lit, Malay Lang & Lit, Tamil Lang & Lit, Music, Theatre Studies & Drama, Management of Business, French, German, Jap
Bio, Chem, Physics, Math, Computing, Principle of Accounting

3. Level H3, 相当于以前的Special Paper：
Art, Econs, Geog, History, English Lit, Chinese/Malay/Tamil Lang & Lit, Music,
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics

颜色注解：不同的颜色代表不同的专业领域，分别有：
Knowledge Skills
Languages
Humanities and the Arts
Mathematics and Sciences

新加坡国立大学和南洋理工大学入学的新要求：至少2门h2及格，同一次a level考试中考过general paper或knowledge & inquiry（没说明需不需要及格）, Mother tongue及格这两所大学招生（尤其是某些竞争比较激烈的热门专业对报名学生的选择）过程中会根据考生的：1. GP/KI成绩，2. project work，3. 三门h2和一门h1科目成绩（contrasting subject必须包括在内）

Private Candidate的要求尚未公布。但是我猜如果你是参加2006年的考试，应该不会受影响。

新的选课制度：可以依照以前的选课要求：三门h2 + 一门h1科目+ General Paper + Project Work + Mother Tongue在这个基础上，可根据自己兴趣（各个学校有自己具体要求）再加一门h1或者h2科目，和最多2门h3科目其次，在可以自由选择的4门或5门课中，至少必须有一门是来自另一个专业领域（specialisation）——也就是所谓的contrasting subject。还有，knowledge skill栏中的Knowledge & inquiry可以用来取代General Paper, 同时不管你是选science scheme(主要科目都在math & sciences中选)还是arts scheme(主要科目都来自humanities and the arts), Knowledge & inquiries 都算是一门contrasting subject.

这个是moe网站上的介绍：
Knowledge & Inquiry gives you the opportunity to explore different methods of inquiry in fields like the sciences, the humanities, mathematics and the aesthetics. You can take KI in place of General Paper. As KI is multi-disciplinary, it can be taken as a contrasting subject for students whose main specialisation is either the Humanities & the Arts or the Mathematics & sciences disciplines.

根据moe网站上的介绍，变动后的课程制度卖点是“flexibility”，但是具体多灵活就看各个JC或者CI课程如何安排了。
而且选课需要参考的因素很多，包括个人兴趣，以及有关的大学（新加坡或其他国家）专业招生要求。
要回答如何选课这个问题有点困难，必须具体问题具体分析。但是你可以参考这个网站：
