刚刚完成了我的意大利之旅，到Florence佛罗伦萨，一个十分浪漫美丽的城市去visit我所读的Master in Fashion Design的学校，Libera Accademia di Bella Arti (L.A.B.A.)。提着沉沉的连夜touch-up的portfolio还有三套我设计的衣服，去见我的chief instructor，我的教授，Professor Laura Facchini.
当车子缓缓行驶在美丽的Fiume Arno河边，驶向我的学校的途中，我没有expect太多，只是想赶快完成这次的会面，能够顺利得到教授的认可，然后就可以好好的回来新加坡的联合学校，完成我九个月的课程，拿到我的master.
接触fashion design已经有四年了，虽然曾经带着满腔的passion进入我的diploma, 对自己的创意天份也有着十分的自信，但是看着自己虽然设计出受人称赞的作品，也屡次在比赛中得奖，然而却屡屡被校内保守的偏见的不必要的规矩所限制，被东方社会特有的师权至上，老师的偏心、不平等所打击，我对fashion的理想已经变得麻木。所以最后我决定，在现实面前，fashion已经不能谈什么理想不理想了，只能在尽可能短的时间内，拿到一个好听的文凭就算了。于是我选择了这个意大利的master, 只要diploma毕业就可以读，而且在新加坡授课，只需要九个月就可以拿到了，挺好的。我的classmate跟我有着同样的想法，他在diploma的时候更加受到老师的打击，只因为他很坚持自己的设计，不肯做老师要的东西。
车子在经过了Holiday Inn Florence之后就停下了，我在安静的学校内见到了Professor Laura Facchini. 她看起来很年轻，像三十出头的，后来我才知道她已经从事时装设计23年了。她很nice,虽然英文不是非常流利, 但是她很有耐性的跟我们说了好多她的经验，西方服装业的情况，也给了我们很多意见。我们谈了三个多小时。她看了我们的作品，还一点一点详细的询问我们问题，并解释给学校的director听。我从来没有觉得自己的作品如此受人重视过。
她看得很细致，而且很善于发掘作品里面的一些细节，更发掘出连我们自己都不会注意到的才华。我的classmate刚开始不好意思给她看自己的作品，因为以前diploma的老师批评他的设计不够neat，太随性，而且题材也太敏感。但是Professor Laura Facchini很欣赏他其中的创意，还说是以前老师的偏见kills his creativity, 更鼓励他应该对自己更有信心。我觉得我的classmate跟当初准备portfolio时的心情完全不一样了，现在他真的显得很高兴，也很有自信。
这次的会面让我印象很深刻，也很欣慰。之后几天，我们游览了Florence的名胜，在Galleria Uffizi看了米开朗基罗Michealangelo的雕塑，达芬奇Da Vinci的画，还有文艺复兴时期的名画“维纳斯的诞生”; Palazzo Pitti 看了精致的Royal Apartment 和vintage的Couture。我们还坐火车去了还保持着著名的中世纪建筑的小城Siena。在Toscany的阳光下，闲逛在繁忙而可爱的Ponte Vecchio, 还有S.Trinita 附近的名店和皮具精品；随便挑一个大理石Bar台品尝着才一欧元却香浓非常的cuppucino; 再坐在Piazza San Marco旁边的露天小cafe品尝Toscan新鲜的Risotto frutti di mare, 我真的很享受这几天free and easy的旅程。最后，我们还到罗马玩了一天，才坐飞机回来。虽然以前我也到过意大利，但匆匆忙忙的旅行团之旅，跟这次的经验相比，显然是截然不同的。
临走前，我们和Mr.Arlen，L.A.B.A.学校的Internation students department 的负责人通了电话，跟他道谢和道别，他告诉我们，Professor Laura Facchini 曾任职Gucci, 是Tom Ford的助手，现在她开了自己的boutique,并同时和数家服装品牌做设计。我们真得很惊讶，一直都不知道，这位那么nice的Professor Laura Facchini，竟然是Tom Ford身边的助手，Gucci里面的要职！
回到新加坡这边的学校，见了我们的director, 他说意大利那边对我们的反应不错。而且对方会安排我们毕业前两个月到意大利的时装公司进行实习，这也是课程的一部分。我们也见了在新加坡这边的instructor, 一位来自德国的年轻professor, 她曾在ESCADA工作过。她也给了我们不少有新意的意见，同时也给与我们很多发挥的空间。
