<P>'mean' 在英式英语 = 1。吝啬 2。不友善。但在美语只 = 2。不友善。</P>
<P>so when you say "<EM>you're very mean</EM>" in British English you <EM>either </EM>mean 1.You're not willing to share things <EM>or </EM>2.You're (being) unkind or unfair.But in American English it can only mean 2.</P>
<P>If 贱 is used to mean 行为下流、卑鄙,the English equivalent can be 'mean', but other words like 'cheap' and 'despicable'are more precise.</P>
<P>P.S. On the other hand, 'mean' can also mean <EM>excellent, very good or marvellous</EM> in informal context, e.g. <EM>a mean lunch, a mean cook</EM>. So be careful the next time you use 'mean' and mean what you say ! </P>
