Its my pleasure to assist my chinese friends. Anyone can learn to write and memorize every English verbs, pronounce etc. You can score elite and top scores for your TOEFL. But who are those that really can speaks Fluent, clear and crisp English that sound like music to the ears of the others. I can say, perhaps around 5%-8% of the whole cohord. Mastering English Conversation skills is the next foremost step for most of the Chinese friends around here, or for those who seek to be understood in an English Community. After years of research, I can conclude that to Master Fluent, Clear English. You need these criterias
1st) Courage ( Do not feel embarassed, Shy or Discourage when you speak English in front of Strangers, Friends)
2nd) Mix around with some or more English Spoken Community Friends ( Try to find friends that speaks English with you, or encourage your own Chinese Friends to speak more English with you, and minimise the reliance on Chinese Conversation) A thumb of rule, 1/3 on Chinese Conversation, 2/3 on English Conversation for the Start.
3rd) Read English Newspaper, Reader's Digest, Foreign and Global Affairs News, Magazines ( Get to increase your daily desire to read on Current Affairs News, Good English Publishing Papers. And seek every new vocabs which you may not understand by using your Digital English-Chinese vice versa Dictionary)
4th) Practising on yourself by speaking and facing a Mirror of yourself by Speaking English is not a good method to improve or improvise your English. The barrier of facing a Stranger on the Street or another Well-Spoken English Spoken Friends will tumble all your daily Effort.
Learning to Let Others understood you, and For You to be understood, Need Lots of self Endurance, Practises, Confidence on your side. Time and Effort is the essense for Success. How fast you can succeed depends on your Endurance and Persistant for your Hunger for English. Of course The Right method to lean to speak well will dramatically decrease the amount of time taken. I hope my experience shared will assist those who are still struggling to master Good English Conversational Skills.

Thanks for the sharing, you may have mastered the spoken english ( since you sound so experienced), but i would say your written english needs to be improved.  Of course to some, the spoken part is easier to master than the written part.  A rule of thumb ( not a thumb of rule), practice and don't get discouraged!
