Great to see some valuable comments.

My assumptions are as follows:

Retirement age: 55 (although govt encourages to recruit older workers, the potential and pay of the older workers are highly limited, at such age, the best is not to work for money)

Inflation rate: 5-7% (the published inflation rate may not include some critical items, eg, housing/rental, given rental is the largest part of cost of doing biz in Spore, if rental increase as those analysts predict, the cost of living in Spore will increase substantially in the coming yrs; another big ticket item is salaries of employees, which coudl also affect the cost of biz significantly; medical exp and etc are increasing much faster than the average CPI); In general, what I believe Spore is going to a business and entertainment centre for Asia, and targeting to attract the rich and super rich people.

Monthly exp: this is really based on individual requirement, currently I am using 10.8k future value or 4k current value

After setting the requirement, then a big Q is how to achieve it. Assuming the net saving of a small family is 50k per annual, so the required return in real term (without inflation) would be 15% in 20 yrs to achieve $5m. I am not sure which fund can provide a 15% return in real term.
|
