[理工/大学] 关于大学选科、奖学金和以后职业的问题

现在无法确定要不要拿奖学金? 只是因为无法确定什么样的将来是最适合孩子的. 但是,控制权至少还在手上.
如果签了合约, 过数年后, 孩子明确了什么是自己想要的.控制权却不在手上. 这才真的是悲剧!
所以咬咬牙, 能不签就尽量别签.让孩子自己作决定.

选大学科系和选中学一样,可能选和自己成绩接近的比较好 -- 就是说,依据 大学 Indicative Grade Profile (IGP)选科 和 PSLE T-Score 来选 same PSLE range 的中学。

女儿的大一快结束了。她目前是读NTU Mathematical Sciences (AY 2013/2014 IGP 10th percentile CCC/B 90th percentile AAA/B)。她蛮喜欢上Mathematical Sciences 的 数学和电脑课,可是她觉得由于数学系整体不强,所以教授们在教课、设作业和考题时会偏易/中等,这是为了顾虑整体学生程度,但挑战性就被削弱了(她相当在意这个)。一直以来,她的强项是数理化科目,其实她也蛮喜欢物理、化学、生物的。现在,她在考虑要不要大二转去NTU Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering(AY 2013/2014 IGP 10th percentile AAB/B 90th percentile AAA/A)。由于她是在 CN Yang Scholars Programme,Science 和 Engineering 学生在第一到第三学期是修同样的课,所以可以switch course,影响很小。对于以后的职业,她觉得只要是IT/research/science/engineering,她都会喜欢。


希望听听大家的意见。

新大以前所给的数据,别的大学报整体平均数,它家只报 Cum Laude and above (大概相当于荣誉学位二等甲及以上吧?),有以自己的上驷比别人下驷之嫌,呵呵,近年似乎略有收敛。另外新大是四年制的,国大南大有的科系不读或觉得毕业成绩达不到荣誉学位二等甲的学生,就三年拿学位毕业了,这些都是需综合考虑的因素。

按照你女儿的成绩,是有点低就了。我认识的和你女儿一样的成绩(7A1B),要么在国大读药科,要么在国大或新大读法律,要么在国外读大学(拿本地奖学金)。认识一位在国大读法律的后来还成功转入新大读法律。不管怎样,在本地,工科比理科竞争力强。化学工程读起来有趣,真的工作了,女孩子去炼油厂虽然收入不菲,但是也有其它不利因素如接触有毒气体或化学物质,在塔上爬上爬下也累人。也认识一些拿了化学工程学位,后来工作转行的。觉得毕业后在设计院工作是不错选择,只是不知道机会多不多。或者毕业后去 ASTAR 工作?或继续升造拿到PHD 在大学任教或在跨国化工或药企做高层?
