春晚从以前的因为政治或者技术问题不能播映，到录影带在市面上流传，到电视台在年初几在午夜播映，到现在在年初一晚上播映，已经成为不少新加坡人爱看的过年节目，这也代表了中国在和海外华人隔阂许久后，正逐渐取回文化主体的地位。新加坡很多说英语或者信仰西方宗教的家庭对春晚还是一无所知的(一些连农历年也不过的)，就算一般比较传统家庭，年轻一辈对春晚也没兴趣，老一辈和传统华校生倒是很爱的，但也还是有选择性的观看的，以我和朋友为例，对传统技艺舞蹈歌曲非常喜欢，但对节目里的小品很不耐烦，更受不了主持人朗诵歌咏一般的主持方式和宣传言词，大概是民情的不同吧。或许有一天，春晚会在所有海外的国家电视台的除夕出现，那也是中国在国际的地位象征吧。
