我不是新加坡人，也觉得争吵没什么好玩的。不过李光耀对新加坡的贡献实在很大，而且也多次为亚洲人，争了气。

如此政治家，值得赞赏。

我也不敢想象，他百年之后，新加坡知否还可保持盛况，如果下一代领导人，没有他的气度和铁腕的话。

嘲讽他人，并不是高等的表现。有时间嘲讽他人，不如思考下，新加坡今日的繁荣是建立什么之上，以及自己与你们开国之父之间的涵养以及品格上的差距。

实话实说，李光耀是有用相当胸襟的人，虽然惟利是图。不过，作为资源稀缺的城市国家的领导人，想在国际上生存，不惟利是图的话，是无法生存的，换作再崇高的人，也会以自己国家的利益为根本。不过，新加坡新一代的辅政人，很多人的胸襟不够宽广。如果这样的话，新加坡总有一天失去他的核心竞争力。

我本人最为赞赏的是新加坡的金融业。

至于美国的话，美国的外交政策，向来是区域性政治抗衡政策。寻找那些自身比较薄弱或者比较可能面临区域性政治风险的国家作为棋子，帮助他到达他的目的而已。

李光耀其实一直认识到这个问题，无非是相互利用而已。

全球政治游戏，美国玩得最好。

我始终认为，新加坡如果要在几十年或者几百年后，依旧拥有蓬勃生机，大马是他的一座靠山。单看现在的盛况是没有用的，依靠其自身发展，总会有一个尽头。好比，香港、澳门与中国大陆的一国两制，新加坡或许将来某一天会返回联邦，与马来西亚成为一国两制。至于政党制度，这个比较复杂，也很难说。

Although Lee Kuan Yew made many contributions to the building up of the Singapore, he was not without controversy. For the sake of wrestling power into his hands, he was responsible for the incarceration of many political rivals. It is beyond my liberty to decide if what he did was right or not. Also, he made many remarks of late that does not resonate well with the local community.

No doubt his contributions are colossal, but we have to take note that all will not be possible if he did not have the help of many ministers who painstakingly gave all they had to build up Singapore. People like Dr Goh Keng Swee, Mr Rajaratnam, Mr Toh Chin Chye, Mr EW Barker etc.

Success would not have been possible without these men.

How about watching the videos from this thread to gain more insight to the history of Singapore? Although the programs are not as elaborate as it should've been, I think it serves to draw a very good framework of how Singapore came by after all these years.
